A well-fitted suit should feel as good as it looks.Whether you are choosing a standard size or providing measurements for a tailored garment, this guide will help you select the right fit with confidence.

All measurements are in inches

Measure over a light layer, keep the tape level, and do not pull it tight. Use your body measurements rather than the measurements of another garment.

How to Measure

For the most accurate fit, use a flexible tailor’s measuring tape and stand naturally without holding your breath or changing your posture. Keep the tape comfortably against the body without pulling it tight.

Chest

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest, passing underneath the arms and across the shoulder blades.

Keep the tape level and parallel to the floor. Stand naturally with your arms relaxed at your sides.

Neck

Wrap the measuring tape around the base of your neck where a shirt collar would naturally sit.

Keep the tape comfortable rather than tight. You should be able to place one finger between the tape and your neck.

Shoulder

Measure across the back from the outer edge of one shoulder to the outer edge of the other. The measurement should follow the natural line across the upper back, from where one shoulder seam meets the sleeve to the same point on the opposite shoulder.

Sleeve Length

Begin at the outer edge of the shoulder and measure down the outside of the arm to the wrist.

Keep your arm relaxed and slightly bent while measuring.

Bicep

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your upper arm.

Keep your arm relaxed at your side and ensure the tape sits comfortably without compressing the arm.

Stomach

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your stomach, usually around or slightly above the navel.

Keep the tape level and breathe normally. Do not pull your stomach in.

Jacket Length

Measure from the highest point of the shoulder, close to the base of the neck, straight down the front of the body to your preferred jacket length.

Stand upright and allow the tape to fall naturally.

Waist

Wrap the measuring tape around the exact position where you normally wear your trousers.

Keep the tape level around the body and comfortably fitted without tightening it.

Hips / Seat

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks.

Check both the front and back to make sure the tape remains completely level and parallel to the floor.

Front Rise

Measure from the top of the front waistband straight down to the crotch seam.

Keep the tape following the natural shape of the trousers without pulling it tight.

Back Rise

Measure from the top of the back waistband down to the crotch seam.

Allow the tape to follow the natural curve of the seat rather than pulling it straight.

Thigh

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your upper thigh, just below the crotch.

Keep the tape level and leave it comfortably fitted around the leg.

Knee

Wrap the measuring tape around the knee at its widest point.

Stand naturally and keep the tape level around the leg.

Inseam

Measure from the crotch seam down the inside of the leg to your desired trouser length.

Keep the tape running straight along the inner leg.

Outseam

Measure from the top of the trouser waistband down the outside of the leg to your desired trouser length.

Stand straight and allow the tape to fall naturally along the side of the leg.

Leg Opening

Wrap the measuring tape around the bottom opening of the trouser leg.

Keep the tape level around the hem without pulling or stretching the fabric.
